Larry Garcia recently competed as a member of Team USA at the World Karate & Kickboxing Union (WKU) World Championships held in Rhodes, Greece, October 21-26. The weeklong event included a total of 23 countries, 2,200 competitors. Team USA placed third in the medal count with 75 competitors. Both Team Germany and Team England had 250 plus team members respectively. Mr. Garcia helped contribute to the United States medal count by earning two bronze medals from the Karate Traditional Male Seniors (+55) Kata (Forms) and Point fighting Male Seniors (+55) -80 KG divisions. Larry has competed in Sport Karate events, local, state and nationally. It was his first time he traveled outside of the United States to compete against other countries on the world stage. It was definitely a great experience to be able to display both the Kata and Point Fighting skills which he has learned over the past 4 decades. He received his Kosho-Ryu Kenpo Black Belt in 1981.
